Festivals & Events
The Town of Bristol is proud to sponsor a variety of events in our downtown throughout the calendar year. Many of these events would not be possible without the support of dedicated volunteers and community partners. The Town of Bristol thanks you for your public service.
THE ANNUAL 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION
Bristol is the Home of the Oldest Fourth of July Celebration in America. Each year, hundreds of thousands of spectators attend the local events that showcase the town's deep patriotism. The Celebration officially starts on Flag Day (June 14th) and conclude with the Military, Civic and Firemen’s Parade on July 4th.
Other events included in the Celebration are the 4th of July Carnival, Block Party, Concert Series and Formal Ball.
The festivities are so big, they needed their own website!
BRISTOL CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL
Since 1987, the Bristol Christmas Festival brings together the members of the local community for seasonal fun including the Grand Illumination Ceremony, Breakfast with Santa and the Christmas Story Time.
BLACK SHIPS FESTIVAL
In 2018, the Town of Bristol partnered with the Japan-America Society of Rhode Island to bring the Black Ships Festival to Bristol. Now in their 35th year, this celebration commemorates Rhode Island Native, Commodore Matthew Perry, who successfully negotiated the first trade treaty between the United States and Japan.
Activities included in the Black Ships Festival include an Opening Ceremony, Cultural Martial Arts & Crafts Fair, Sushi Sail, Taiko Drum Concert and Formal Gala.
Now in its 5th year, Harborfest has turned into a staple summer event in Bristol. Hosted by the Town's Harbormaster Office, the festival includes a traditional Blessing of the Fleet, Live Music and Stuffie Competitions.
The 2018 Harborfest will take place Saturday, August 18, 2018 starting at 1:30PM at Rockwell Park.
BRITISH MOTORCAR FESTIVAL
Hosted by Bristol's tourism partner, Explore Bristol, the British Motorcar Festival brings together classic British motorcars (and enthusiast) from across New England to participate in events such as the Scenic Back Roads Hidden Highway Road Tour, Friday Night Street Party, British Attire Competition and Tailgate Competition. In 2018, the British Motorcar Festival celebrated its 4th anniversary.
