Pet of the Month: Storm
|
Storm is a special needs cat because he is positive for Feline Leukemia. He is between 1 - 2 years old, mostly black with a white belly. Feline Leukemia is very contagious to other cats, so Storm needs to be placed in a home with no other cats or a home that already has positive cats. Storm's picture was taken in a cage because that's where he lives. He is confined to a cage 24 hours a day because we are an animal shelter with other cats that cannot be exposed to him without fear of them also becoming infected. This is a very sad situation. Storm is such a playful cat and wants nothing more to be able to just run around the room like a "normal" cat should. He has been vet checked and has been given a clean bill of health. Storm is desperate to find his forever home. It is our Holiday wish that Storm be home for the Holidays snuggled up by the fire being a "normal" cat. Please give them him a second chance as we have! If interested, please come in for a visit |
In order to adopt an animal from the shelter, you must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid form of I.D. Adoption applications are filled out at the shelter only, and only after you have met and interacted with the animal. All animals available for adoption can be viewed on petfinder ( http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/RI53.html )
Volunteers can choose several ways to help out at the shelter. They can help with the feeding and cleaning, walk dogs or socialize cats and/or dogs. Volunteers can also help by hosting a fund-raiser for the shelter.
Volunteers who are 18 years or older can volunteer at any time. Volunteers who are under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult or must be part of the Explorer’s Post I youth group. To find out more information about the Explorer’s, please contact the shelter.

This is Maverick. He is a Sphynx (a hairless cat). He was found on a cold day in an abandoned car that was about to be junked. He is very lucky he was found when he was…having no fur; he wouldn’t have survived too much longer in the cold. Maverick is now living it up in his new home with his 4 brothers and sisters. During the waking hours, you will find Maverick playing with his toys, and anything else that catches his interest. At nighttime you will find him cuddled up UNDER the covers fast asleep. Maverick is a very special kitty and is lucky to have found his very special home. |

Lucky came into the shelter as an eight week old kitten with an injured leg. The vet was able to save his leg and he was adopted. He is now 2 years old and spends his time playing chase with his four brothers and sisters. He especially loves to play fetch with his toy mouse. |
