Founded in 1963, the Auxiliary provides general assistance to the Fire Department financially, in social activities, and in the times of disaster, and also promotes harmony between all concerned.

Membership: Any member of the immediate family of any active or social member of the Bristol Fire Department in good standing is entitled to membership; be it a wife, mother, daughter, or sister.  Any female member of the Bristol Fire Department is eligible to join the Ladies Auxiliary.  Members of the Auxiliary must be eighteen years of age or older.  Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, with the exception of July and August when no meetings are held, in the Training Room at the Hydraulion Fire Station. Vicki Van Voast AwardVicki Van Voast Memorial Award

The Ladies Auxiliary is proud to announce this year's winner of the Vicki Van Voast Memorial Award, Barbara Luther, a charter member who served for 45 years. She was honored with award at the May Breakfast on May 4, 2008.

The Vicky Van Voast Memorial Award Committee was established in 2007 to select and honor one individual annually who exemplifies the same qualities of community spirit, volunteerism, and above all else dedication to the Bristol Volunteer Fire Department that was characterized by one of the Auxiliary’s charter members, Victoria Van Voast.

 

Firemen’s & Ladies Auxiliary Benefit Fund

The Benefit Fund was established to provide the financial assistance to any Charter, Life or active fireman or Charter, Life or active Auxiliary member who may be hospitalized for a long period of time or has suffered a great loss. Requests for assistance must be made in writing and submitted to the Ladies Auxiliary at PO Box 881, Bristol, RI, 02809 or through email at ladyaux@bristolri.us.

Holiday Dinner

Each year, the Ladies Auxiliary prepares a holiday dinner for all of Bristol's Volunteer Fire Department on the first Wednesday of December, as a way to thank them for their service to the Town. The Auxiliary welcomes volunteers and donations to help to defray the costs of this worthy demonstration of appreciation. To donate, or to volunteer, please send an email to ladyaux@bristolri.us

Annual events

May Breakfast

Always the first Sunday of May, this annual tradition is held at Hydes Fire Station on Metacom Avenue. Enjoy all-you-can eat pancakes, french toast, eggs, coffee and more. Open to the public, proceeds go toward the Scholarship Fund.

Ladies Auxiliary Bristol Volunteer Fire Department Scholarship

Each year, the Ladies Auxiliary awards a $2000 scholarship to a son or daughter of a member of the Bristol Fire Department. The Ladies Auxiliary Bristol Volunteer Fire Department Scholarship was established to provide a scholarship to a resident of Bristol who is a graduating senior of an accredited high school to attend any degree-conferring post-secondary educational institution.The scholarship is administered by the RI Foundation.

Adopt-a-Family

Each year, the Auxiliary helps a local family, by providing assistance in the form of gifts and other necessities during the holiday season. For more information or to nominate a family, contact the Auxiliary at ladyaux@bristolri.us.
