Land Evidence

Land Evidence records date back to 1680.  A computerized index is available to the public for review from 1990 - present and actual documents can be viewed from 2005 - present.  Land Evidence records are not available online at this time.

Real estate recordings are accepted for recording in person, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. or by mail, Town Clerk’s Office, 10 Court Street, Bristol, RI 02809.  All original documents are returned at the time of recording.  All mail recordings must include a self addressed stamped envelope for the return of original recorded documents.  Checks should be made payable to Town of Bristol. 

A copy/certified copy of a recorded document may be obtained either in person or by written request, accompanied by the appropriate fee (per R.I state law, $1.50 per page and $3.00 for certification) and a self addressed stamped envelope.

EFFECTIVE 4/1/2007 - all deeds must have the sale price contained within the document or language to the effect that the transfer is not a sale.
